Add knowledge to your Tutor

The knowledge base is what makes a Tutor yours. When someone asks a question,
the Tutor searches your sources and answers from what it finds.

A well-stocked knowledge base is the single biggest factor in answer quality. The more relevant material you add, the more accurate and syllabus-aligned the Tutor becomes.

Upload files

Uploading directly from your computer or Google Drive is the fastest way to ground a new Tutor in your teaching materials.

1. Open your Tutor → Knowledge Base tab.
2. Click Upload File → From Computer or From Google Drive.
3. Supported types include PDF, Word, PowerPoint, spreadsheets, and more.
4. Wait for indexing (Pending → Indexing → Indexed).

Sync from Library

If you already organize materials in your Library, syncing avoids duplicate uploads and keeps your tutor connected to the latest versions.

1. Click Sync from Library.
2. Select folders or files to link to this tutor's knowledge base.
3. Synced items stay connected — changes in Library can be reflected here.
4. Remove sync without deleting the original library file.

Select context files

Context selection lets you narrow the Tutor's focus for a specific lesson or topic without removing other files from the knowledge base.

Tick specific files to focus the Tutor on a topic. If none are selected, the
AI explores the full knowledge base.

Web search sources

Web sources are useful when you want to supplement uploaded files with current articles, reference sites, or external reading.

Add web pages as sources by searching from the knowledge base — useful for
bringing in current articles or reference sites.

Open a file (PDF first)

Click a knowledge-base file to open its detail view.

• PDFs open the source PDF first (scroll and page navigation in the
  panel). Switch to Summary to see the AI overview and chunks. Use Open in
  new tab to view the PDF outside Zense AI.
• Other file types show summary and chunks as before.

Click Generate Summary & Topics on a file to get an overview and suggested
discussion starters — useful in class or as Live Class tasks.

Show to students

Enabling this option gives students read-only access to your source material, which can build trust and encourage independent study.

Enable Show to students so learners can read your knowledge base in
read-only mode (they cannot upload or delete files).

Clear, well-organized files give the best answers and Studio outputs.
