Ride the Wave. Make Our Mark
Before we started the company, AI hype was everywhere. Our founders—Sky and Eric—were computer science students obsessed with AI, and like many others, we followed the trend and built AI applications. But we didn't want to build just another product. We wanted to change education in Hong Kong into what we wished it could have been when we were kids.
Why We Started — A Letter & a Wish from Our Founders
We grew up and studied in Hong Kong. We went to the same secondary school, and later met at HKU. Living through the system together, we came to understand its pressure, its beauty, and its unfairness.
We weren’t born “good students.” We struggled—hard—just to reach an “okay” result and earn a chance at university. What carried us wasn’t talent; it was the patience of great teachers who gave us more than lessons. They gave us belief, structure, and time when we needed it most.
Over the years we've seen how differently students start. Family finances, home environment, learning resources, and even a quiet space to study can shape outcomes long before effort is measured. And for teachers who truly care, it can feel like the heart is willing, but the hands are tied—wanting to help every student, but limited by time, workload, and the reality of one classroom.
Then the AI wave arrived. While we were studying at university, we realized education would soon face a new kind of challenge: how to adopt AI responsibly, and how to monitor its use with clarity and care. Without the right tools and guidance, the coming years could feel like chaos for both students and teachers.
That’s why we started Zense AI. We want to build something that helps teachers teach with more clarity and care, and helps students learn with more confidence—so more people can experience what we were lucky enough to receive. Our wish is simple: to increase the chance for every student to bring out their best.
