Run a Live Class session

Start and end a session

From the Live Class header:

1. Click Go live when class begins — status changes to Live.
2. You'll see a joined / total counter as students enter the session.
3. While live, use Join to open the linked Tutor with the Live Class panel
   attached (Tutor Panel → Live Class tab).
4. Click End when class wraps — status returns to Offline (you can Go
   live again later).

If students on this classroom roster are already in another live class,
Go live is blocked until that class ends (or those students leave it). A
live class that includes the full roster also blocks any other class from
going live at the same time.

The header shows breadcrumbs back to the Classroom and linked Tutor.

Students do not auto-join when you go live. They join by opening the live
class (explicit enter) or by accepting a Pull in invite. When a student
Leaves, they return to the classroom (Tutor tab). Refreshing the page
keeps a joined student in the live class — they do not have to re-enter.

Students tab

The Students tab is your command center during a live session:

• List view — every student with join status, progress, and alerts.
• Smart Groups — clusters students by mastery or need.
• Search — find a student quickly in large classes.
• Pull in / Pull all — invite students who are on the tutor or on the
  classroom page but have not entered this live class yet. Pull sends an
  invite; the student chooses Join or declines — it does not force them in.
• Open a student row to inspect their chat, tasks (including submitted
  answers), and alerts in a side panel.

Presence dots show where each student is:

An AI reviewing… label appears while the system grades student work against
your tasks.

Students can keep using the tutor's normal chat during a live class. Joining does
not hide New chat or lock the composer — only pause access does.

Other roster actions include pause access, send hint, and Post to
Interactive Threads.

Tasks tab

Review and edit the session's tasks. During a live session you can track how
students are progressing against each goal. Task mastery appears as circles on
student rows and in the class mastery strip.

The compact In order switch is the same Require tasks in order setting
from create — change it only while offline. You can add tasks while live;
removing or reordering is locked until you End.

Open a student on Students to see their latest attempt and earlier
submissions (correct / partial / incorrect / needs review). For Manual
review free-text tasks, set mastery yourself.

What students see

Joined students work through a task pager (Task 1 of n):

• Title, description, optional question and media, and Submit when a submit
  box is on.
• Previous / Next to move between tasks.
• If In order is on, later tasks show Locked until you finish earlier
  tasks — they can still browse ahead.
• After a wrong free-text or MCQ attempt, they may need to talk it through
  with the tutor before trying again.

When the submit box is Off, the page says Answer by chatting with your
tutor.

Evaluation tab

Evaluation combines live session insights (joined, active now, needs
help, messages, plus an on-demand session summary) with Reports you can
keep and export.

• Generate the short summary after the class has gone live at least once.
• Use Generate report for a full evaluation (mastery by task, groups,
  misconceptions, student cards, Excel/PDF).

Alerts for individual students appear in the student inspector (open a
row on the Students tab), with a badge on Students — not as the Evaluation
body.

Thread tab

The Thread tab shows Interactive Threads — student-pushed conversations
from the linked Tutor, useful for whole-class discussion on a projector or
shared screen. Teachers can also post to the wall from the roster.

Student Controls (linked Tutor)

Live Class uses Student Controls on the Students tab (same settings as the
linked tutor):

• Mute Students — block new student messages and Interactive Threads pushes.
• Request Frequency Limit — minimum seconds between student messages.
• Interactive Threads post frequency — minimum seconds between student
  pushes (0 = no limit).

Students see mute, cooldown, and join status in the chat status bar during
the session.
