How Chat remembers you

Memory lets Chat carry helpful details across conversations, so you don't have to repeat yourself.

Last updated Sep 6, 2026

Chat can remember important facts about you — like the subjects you teach, your
grade level, or how you like answers formatted — and use them in future chats.

Memories are separate from a single conversation's context — they persist until
you delete them.

How memory works

  • Chat automatically notes useful details from your conversations.
  • You can also add memories manually so Chat always knows key context.
  • Memories apply across all your chats, not just one conversation.

Manage your memories

  1. Go to Settings → Memory.
  2. Here you can:
    • Add Memory — type something you want Chat to remember (for example,
"I teach Grade 9 Biology and prefer answers in point form").
    • Edit or Delete any existing memory.
    • Search and sort memories (newest or oldest first).

Each memory can be up to 5,000 characters. Keep them short and specific for the
best results.

Good things to remember

  • The subjects and grade levels you work with
  • Your preferred response language or format
  • Recurring context (your school, class names, ongoing projects)

Want a clean slate? Delete any memory at any time — it can't be undone, but Chat
will simply stop using that detail.
