Agent tools
Chat isn't just conversation — agent tools search the web, read files, generate images, and create study materials automatically.

Agent tools are capabilities Chat invokes while answering you. Chat often
picks the right tool on its own; you can also ask directly (e.g. "search the web
for…" or "make flashcards from this").
When a tool runs, you'll see a status line in the chat (e.g. "Searching the web…"
or "Creating flashcards…") before the final answer appears.
Web & media
- Web Search — current information, news, and facts.
- Website Crawling — read and summarize a URL you provide.
- YouTube Transcript — summarize a video from its transcript.
- Create Image / Edit Image — generate or modify images.
Documents & library
- File Search / Read File — work with files you attach.
- Read KB File — read tutor knowledge-base files (in tutor chats).
- Library File Search / Read Library File — search and read saved library
items.
Studio outputs
Chat can create and edit these — they save to your Library:
- Flashcards — Q&A, multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank sets.
- Notes — bullet notes, tables, summaries.
- Mind maps — visual concept maps.
- Slide decks — presentation slides (export to Canva).
- Podcasts — two-speaker audio scripts (download MP3).
- Datasheets — multi-sheet spreadsheets (export .xlsx).
- Infographics — visual summaries.
Memory & progress
- Create / Update Long-term Memory — save facts Chat should remember across
chats. - Mission Checking — internal progress tool (not a Tutor Panel "Missions"
UI). Day-to-day goals live in Live Class tasks.
App builder
When the APP button is on in Chat, these tools build interactive web apps:
- Create app — write initial HTML/CSS/JS from your description.
- Read app — inspect the current app code.
- Edit app — apply changes to the linked app in the workspace App tab.
See the Apps collection for deploy, share, and gallery workflows.
Assignment builders
When editing assignments, Chat uses specialised tools for quiz and speaking
builders (create questions, reorder parts, update rubrics, etc.).
Live Class (linked Tutor)
During a Live Class, the linked Tutor can read task media (the image or video
you attached to a task) so it can discuss that content with students. This happens
automatically in tutor chat — you do not turn on a separate tool.
How to use agent tools
Most tools trigger from natural language:
- "Search the web for recent HKDSE physics changes."
- "Summarize https://youtu.be/…"
- "Make 15 flashcards on photosynthesis."
- "Create a slide deck on the water cycle."
- Attach files, then: "Summarize chapter 3."
Saving what Chat makes
Useful replies, flashcards, and files can be saved to your Library so you can
find them later. See Save & organize with the Library.
Some agent tools consume extra credits (for example, web search and image
generation). Your usage is tracked under Settings → Usage.
