Taking an assignment (students)

How students start, complete, and submit an assignment — and where to find their results.

Last updated Sep 6, 2026

This guide is for students. Assignments your teacher publishes appear in your
Assignments list.

When your teacher publishes an assignment, it shows up in your sidebar. Open it to see the details, start your attempt, and submit when you are done.

Start an assignment

Check the number of questions, time limit, and attempts allowed before you begin.

  1. Click Assignments in the sidebar and open the one you want.
  2. Check the details — number of questions, time limit, and attempts allowed.
  3. Click Start attempt. If you left one unfinished, you can Resume or
    Start new.

While you work

Your answers save automatically, so you can leave and come back without losing progress.

On desktop quizzes, the attempt view usually has three panels: question
navigation, a read-only paper preview, and the answer form for the current
question.

  • Move with Previous / Next, or jump around using the Progress / nav
    panel.
  • If the paper uses choice groups, pick which part to take before answering.
  • Whiteboard / draw questions open a full drawing canvas.
  • Flag questions to revisit before submitting.
  • Your answers save automatically as you go.
  • Watch the timer if the assignment has a time limit — it submits
    automatically when time runs out.

Submit

Once you submit, you cannot edit your answers — double-check flagged questions first.

  1. When you're done, click Submit attempt.
  2. Confirm — you can't edit after submitting.
  3. For speaking tasks, record your response and submit the audio; for book
reports, write your essay or finish the conversation.

See your results

Results may appear immediately or after your teacher reviews them, depending on the assignment settings.

  • Some feedback is released automatically; for others, your teacher releases it
    after review.
  • Open the assignment to see your score, the AI report (strengths and
what to work on), and any teacher feedback.

Don't see results yet? Your teacher may still be reviewing — check back after
the review is released.
